Benguet Police enhance shooting, gun handling skills in invitation shoot fest

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet , May 3 (PIA) - - It was a good experience for the police in enhancing their skills in shooting and gun handling at the same time learning from the experienced shooters of Philippine Practical Shooting Association (PPSA), said Senior Superintendent Benjamin Lusad of the recently concluded 1st Benguet Provincial Police Office (PPO) Invitational Shoot.
The shooting event at the Prime Hills Shooting Range in Tuba, Benguet , drew 163 shooters from the PPSA and 109 police personnel from Benguet.
Sanctioned by the PPSA in a level II competition in seven stages with 150 rounds minimum and hosted by the Metro BaguioPractical Shooting Association (MBPSA).
According to Lusad, Benguet PPO director, this event which was participated by all the 13 municipal police stations in the province, is one way of training the police officers to be accurate in their shooting skills and gun handling.
The champion in the Philippine National Police (PNP) match standard division was Police Inspector Ronald Vizcara; P/Ins. William Willie in the production division while the lady production champion was Police Officer 1 Eva Omaybas.
Team Kibungan Municipal Station Police was the overall champion in PNP group category.
In the PPSA aggregates, the champion in the open division was Amiel Soriano. Standard champion was shooter Wilbur Fernando while the production division champion was Richard Barrozo. The modified winner went to Emerson Jardiel and revolver champ was Allan Campos.
Lusad said they will continue exploring this public-private partnership in honing the skills of the police in their shooting and gun handling to aid them in the efficient dispatch of their duties in maintaining peace and security in the communities. (JDP/JBZ- PIA CAR)
