City prepares for summer vacation
BAGUIO CITY - Summer is just around the corner. The city of pines, being the summer capital of the Philippines will be expecting influx of thousands of domestic as well as foreign tourist this summer vacation.
To sustain peace and order in the city, the Baguio City Police Office now headed by officer-in-charge PS/Supt. Rolando Miranda together with Coun. Roberto Ortega and Coun. Peter Fianza as members will take control of the communication and civic groups, peace, security and traffic assistance.
With regards the city being a tourist destination, the summer arts expo, cultural show, national and regional summer tourism program, summer sports activities, Coun. Elmer Datuin is the chairperson with co-chairman City Tourism Officer Benedicto Alhambra. Members include City Sports Officer Gaudencio Gonzales, Secretary to the Mayor Rafael Tallocoy, City Planning and Development Officer Engr. Evelyn Cayat and Coun. Richard Cariño.
For the summer health and environment program, Dr. Rowena Galpo chairs the committee, with City Environment and Parks Management Officer Cordelia Lacsamana as the co-hair and City Veterinarian Dr. Brigit Piok as member.
Coun. Fianza will chair the traditional events such as the Araw ng Kagitingan, Liberation of Baguio and Kafagway celebrations, with City Public Information Office Ramon Dacawi, Dr. Cesar Francis Bringas of DepEd and City Social Welfare and Development Officer Betty Fangasan as members
City Human Resource Management Officer Estrella Bisquera chairs the Job Fair/Labor Day activities together with Executive Assistant Jose Atanacio as co-chair.
Other committees are constantly conducting meetings in preparing for the market and exposition, holy week and various religious institution activities, respective barangay fiestas, physical arrangements and logistics, streamers and road sign maintenance.
Aside from the traditional events, other activities were lined up this summer such as Le tour de Pilipinas onand North face 100 ultramarathon on .
Also, the Baguio Water District assured that there would be enough supply of water this summer to be used by both residents and visitors. *Jho Arranz
