LAGAWE, Ifugao,  (PIA)--In an effort to expand its services to more clienteles, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) extended the deadline of submission of requirements  for e-passporting  until last week of January.

Speaking in the PIA  daily radio program, Claire Calingayan, Information Officer of the provincial government,  informed those interested to submit their application with the necessary requirements and for those who already submitted their application but with lacking documents,   to provide the needed documents  to the governor’s office  now until  said date.

The provincial government has received   450 applications as of the earlier set deadline on December 29, 2011,   but the DFA is requiring at least 600 to maximize resources of the government since the DFA has to deploy staff here to process the  applications. Thus,  the deadline    is extended for another month.

The DFA screening is set on February 11, 2012 at the Provincial Government Building. The initial pre-screening of the 450 applicants  was already  done.

Calingayan said their office has scheduled a pre-screening in Kiangan town hoping that the 150 applicants needed to complete the 600 required by DFA will be met.

The provincial government  here had been conducting the said activity in close coordination with the DFA in  order to   bring government services closer to the people and to minimize expenses on the part of the people. The nearest DFA offices  are located  in  Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Baguio City and  San Fernando, La Union. (JDP/VDB-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
