BANGUED, Abra, (PIA)-- The Judicial Process Approach(JPA) in arresting wanted persons netted 11 in the province barely two weeks after the top police officer in the Cordillera Region launched this strategy here. CSupt. Benjamin B. Magalong, regional director of the Police Regional Office – Cordillera (PRO-COR) launched the JPA to intensify the process of hunting all the criminals in the province, during his visit here after Christmas. The JPA is a separate move from the regular arrest process undertaken by the Philippine National Police. It entails a rigid preparation where the arresting officers sit down together to workshop on their specific strategies including consultations with the political leaders since most of the wanted persons were believed to be connected with most of the political leaders in the province. It also observes the human rights process in arresting wanted persons. The implementation of the JPA in so short a time had caused the arrest of eleven criminals in Abra who had long been issued their arrest warrants but had always evaded the arresting officers. The text messages of the people giving tips on the whereabouts and movements of the wanted persons helped facilitate the arrest of the persons, which the policemen highly appreciate. Magalong expressed gratitude to the people as well as the political leaders for the peoples’ participation in the process through their texts messages which facilitated the arrest of the wanted persons. He likewise thanked the political leaders and the prosecutors for their enthusiasm and support to the decisive act of the PNP to enforce the law as they told him: “go on with your task so that we could once and for all attain the peace we had all been dreaming of and working for.” “I am staking my career in the implementation of the intensified arrest of wanted persons and I don’t care who gets affected by our act since we have made the assurance to all Abrenios that we will continue to work for peace in the province,” Magalong told the local media in an interview.
