More than 3,000 representatives from various women’s groups, cooperatives, institutions and local government units in Pangasinan are expected to show their strong support on the passage of the highly clamored Reproductive Health (RH) bill as they are set to gather in a Purple Ribbon event dubbed, “Day of the Purple Ribbon for Reproductive Health: 5^th District of Pangasinan Motorcade and Gathering.”

 

Part of the nationwide effort to show the broad multi-sectoral support at the grassroots level for the passage of the RH bill, the event will be highlighted with a motorcade that will cover the whole 5^th District of Pangasinan.

 

Rep. Kimi Cojuangco, member of the group called Soul Sisters for RH, leading RH proponent and defender of women’s RH Rights will lead the event.  Local chief executives and other LGU officials are expected to express commitments of support.

Friday, 23 September 2011; 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM

 

WHO:

For the benefit of her Pangasinense constituents, Rep. Kimi S. Cojuangco will discuss “What the RH Bill is all about?” and why she supports it.

 

Former AKBAYAN Party List Representative Risa Hontiveros will talk about “The RH Bill: What’s in it for Women and Youth” while Engr. Rosendo So of Abono Partylist will talk on “The Benefits of Reproductive Health to Farmers.” 

 

National RH Advocate, Dr. Junice Melgar of LIKHAAN will clarify misconceptions on the medical issues of the RH bill, while Ramon San Pascual of the Philippine Legislators Committee on Population and Development, Inc. (PLCPD) will pose the challenges for the passage of the RH Bill.   

 

Local Chief Executives from the 5^th District of Pangasinan and other LGU officials willexpress their commitments as they are going to welcome and render messages of support for the event.

 

DETAILS:

The motorcade will cover the whole 5^th District; assembly time at 5:30AM.  It will have short stops in every municipality to conduct stickering campaign, pinning of ribbons and short programs in some areas.  Opening program at 6:30 AM at the Sison Municipal Plaza, short program at the Urdaneta City University Gymnasium by 9:40 AM, Multi-Sectoral Gathering in Villasis Auditorium from 1:30 PM onwards.
