BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan this week ordered the suspension of the implementation of the city’s number coding ordinance following the expected arrival of thousands of local and foreign tourists during the celebration of the Baguio Flower Festival here.
“There is a need to suspend its implementation to cater to the needs of visitors who will flock the city with their respective families in the comfort of their vehicles”, he said.
The number coding suspension is slated from February 13 to March 2 or a span of 19 days covering private vehicles only.
Domogan also said the suspension is also in line with the celebration of the Philippine Military Academy’s (PMA) Alumni Homecoming which is scheduled on the third week of February.
“Let’s allow our tourists to freely roam around the city and enjoy their desired break from the extreme heat of the lowlands and actively participate in merrymaking during the festivities”, Domogan stressed.
The city is expecting a doubled-up number of visitors who will take part in the city’s celebration this year.
The suspension is anchored on City Ordinance No. 107 Section 6 series of 2008 which allows the suspension of the number coding scheme in major activities and events sponsored or co-sponsored by the city government. ***paulrillorta
