About 125 blocks of dried marijuana fruiting tops with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of PP3,125,000.00 were intercepted at a mobile checkpoint along the national road in Sitio Loyocan, Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga last January 9, 2012.
The cannabis blocks were loaded in a gray-colored Daewoo sedan bearing plate number TLM 760. Said contrabands, which approximately weigh 125,000 grams, were wrapped in newspapers and placed in five cartons.
The suspects resisted arrest by taking on the government operatives to a car and foot chase where only one of the three suspects was pinned down. He turned out to be the driver of the vehicle and was identified as Alex Panner y Olyog, 29, single, elementary undergraduate, farmer, native of Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga, resident of Agbannawag, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Investigations reveal that one of the two suspects who evaded arrest is the owner of the vehicle and is reported as a notorious marijuana trafficker.
A case for violation of Section 5 (Transportation of Dangerous Drugs) is being prepared for inquest proceedings against Panner and the two others.
The anti-drug operation was carried out by members of the 3rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Public Safety Battalion, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Cordillera Administrative Region, and Kalinga Provincial Public Safety Company and Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group.( EF-PDEA CAR)
